Minneapolitans are a welcoming lot. Friendly residents embrace millions of annual visitors who come to experience an eclectic mix of entertainment, recreation and attractions. In a metropolitan area of nearly 3 million people, Minneapolis’ population is young and vibrant: nearly 60% is age 34 or younger.

And while the city’s strong Scandinavian influence is still highly recognizable, Minneapolis is increasingly diverse. Its largest minority group – Hispanics – makes up almost 10% of the population, and nearly 20% of its residents are African American.

Visit Minneapolis and you can experience the food and celebrations of the Native American, African and Asian cultures. Here, you’ll find the country’s largest Hmong population along with a large population of Somalis, and other African nationalities.
